Hooray for New Ownership!

Update (9/1/14):

As I'm sure most of you have heard, we will no longer be affiliated with Fotogenix. We won't put you to sleep with the details for now (I'm sure I'll give this it's own full post soon), but for now just rest assured this means VERY little for you personally. We just needed to make sure you knew. Naturally we will still honor everything as we've said below, and continue to give you the superior experience you've grown accustomed to with Horrocks Photography.

What's Happened?

By now most of you have heard that Fotogenix went through some changes recently. What used to be our Fotogenix studio in Sandy can be found in Bluffdale, and is now Fotogenix @ Horrocks Photography! It all came about very quickly and it was kind of messy; and that is why there has been some confusion about it and what it means for all of you - our fantastic loyal friends and clients.

So what exactly does this mean for you?

Well, in short, it means you win! Without going into boring details, Fotogenix needed this change in order to grow and make the whole experience more awesome and enjoyable for all of you. We still honor, and offer, your Portrait Club Memberships as well as valid gift certificates you purchased from Fotogenix under the previous owner.

The vast majority of you know me, the new owner of Fotogenix @ Horrocks Photography. It's Dave Horrocks (just to refresh your memory I'm pictured to the right) who had worked for Fotogenix since 2007. I, and my assistant Veronica, are taking things to a whole new level now that the red tape is gone. One of the most notable changes is the smaller staff. For us, a smaller staff means better results for you - and it takes the guess work out of who you'll be working with when you book with us. It also means we can be persnickety as to if, who, when, and how we hire in the future (if you remember the craziness that ensued a couple of years ago when Fotogenix had to hire 6 new photographers to staff both studios - you can agree how much better doing it this way is). The last thing we want is to hire someone who can't produce the standard of quality and excellence we aim for. We've recently been made aware of how many people have had this problem and never said anything to us. I cannot emphasize enough - PLEASE let us know if something isn't up to snuff so we can remedy it. There's just no reason to live with something you simply aren't happy with on your walls.

The next big change has been a change in our philosophy of how we book sessions. The first part of that is our flexibility. We no longer will have "business hours" because those are too restrictive. We can, and will, book whenever is best for you - as long as someone else isn't already booked during that time (yes even if you can only do it at 11:30pm we will be there!). We also will not be doubling up our appointments any longer so that you have the entirety of our time and attention because you deserve it! That also means we can easily change from in-studio sessions to outdoor sessions (or vice-versa) without any conflicts with another session. The big concern with this of course is getting a hold of us. No worries there! When we aren't at the studio the phone forwards to my cell phone so I'm always reachable (naturally if we are in the middle of a session we may not answer, but we will always return your messages ASAP).

What else does the future hold?

One piece of big news we'll let you in on is our new locations for outdoor sessions! We have 2 new exclusive sites that we now have access to as a part of moving in to our new studio space. One is located above the Draper LDS Temple and the other is right out behind our new studio. These places are AMAZING! Both have unique landscaping as well as a Euro styled structure to the buildings and the grounds. We've loved shooting there and so has everyone we've had the privilege of photographing at these new locations.

As for more new things coming up? I'd tell you....but that will spoil all the fun! We will have some new, fun, cool things happening so be sure you are following this blog as well as signed up for our emails. You can also keep tabs on us via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! That way you'll be sure you won't miss out on the awesome!
